What is the room temp where the tank is? I think people could get away without heaters alot more often if they wanted to... Aside from wild caught fish and the "hot" water species that like 80+ there are a lot of cichlids that will do fine in the low 70's. Just speaking from my own experience...

I think you'll be fine. Throw a sponge filter in the tank for some additional bio.

I picked up 3 F1 Laetacara araguaiae (Buckelkopf) Sunday at the GPASI spring auction. They went in the tank Sunday at 8 pm and laid eggs yesterday evening. Eggs arehard to see as they match the rock almost perfectly.

A full grown male Haitiensis is a thing of beauty. Just sucks that they can be so finicky to get to full maturity.

I think the fish stock will be all native species out of the local creeks. Me and my step son love to seine the creeks. I'm a big fisherman also so the pond will also serve as a good place to store live bait we get out of the creeks.

This is going outside right off of my deck. It will get all the sun light needed. Going to stick with low light house plants for the indoor tanks.

RM, you've inspired me to grow veggies. I just picked up a 125 gallon preformed pond to put out by my deck. Filtration will be strictly veggies. Picked up a couple food grade 55 gallon plastic drums to cut in half for my grow bed. I got the pond, 2 pumps, and 3 underwater led lights for $50...

After setting in for a few days the dominant ones are already displaying some nice yellow.

I'm a member just never been to a meeting..or anything besides an auction. Time frame of meetings doesn't jive with my work schedule. Make sure we get to meet face to face at the auction, nice to put faces and real names to our forum usernames

I definitely hope there are more "monster" species this year. Not a whole lot of guys into the big CA cichlids or predatory fish in our area.
