    Is Ecotech Wavemaker the solution?

Ecotechs are generally used in salt but I would bet it would keep food elevated. A 40 In a 72 is more then enough so you should be fine. If you turn it all the way up it will make a sandstorm if u want it. With how many setting there is on it you can really fine tune the flow better then anything

    RTCXTSN

Idk how u got your hybrids to grow so slow when they are that small. Mine went from 3" to about 3' in 2yrs. So they do grow quick and will prob only last in your 220 maybe 8 months. But good excuse for a upgrade!!

    RTC VS RTC X TSN

IDK what your thinking but the hybrids get just as big or bigger than either a RTC or TSN. Mine is catching up to my 3' rtc quick and he is about 8months younger.

Official TANKED (Television Show) Discussion Thread

Anyone else notice that every time they need to build the tank in one week "crazy schedule we have 2 big tanks that have to be delivered in 1 week" There is no way that every week they shoot multiple ppl call and say they need a tank done in a week. It doesnt add any drama to the show so idk...

putting sump 20ft away from dt?

Also remember to calculate the pipe volume that u use in your plumbing so you know how much water will drain into your sump if there is a power outage, to avoid a overflow

Well I dont own a LFS....yet(in the process of expanding and buying one) I do own a company that specializes in custom tanks and setups as well as a small product line. After I got out of the military I did work at a LFS for a little while before I started my own company and it was a tough...

fence sitter seeking advice before taking the plunge into marine

go with the 90. And a marine set up is really pretty easy to take care of. If you set it up right maintenance should be minimal just routine feedings and a 10% water change once a week.

    Dead..live rock?

damsels work but arent Ideal sense they are generally mean and hard to catch so your stuck with them. Put some shrimp in your sump. Thats how we start most of the tanks we do. Otherwise if you want fish just start with a few small fish that you want to keep. Dont add many just one or two and it...

    Dead..live rock?

adding live rock is the best way. Once you add fish you will have a ammonia source to help seed the dead rock. this takes awhile though so you will have to stock your tank slowly as it will probably take awhile to cycle

    Growth rate of alligator gar?

If it makes you feel better it will be 1.5ft in 2 months so no need to put it in a smaller tank. Once mine got to 8" it went into a 1500gal tank with no problem. From that point he hit 2ft faster than I ever expected. Just a few months. I have a thread somewhere in the gar section documenting...

    My First Marine: AquaReef 400

Actually It is activated carbon. The carbon pre filter in a RO unit does not release enough carbon particles in the water to do much. But running carbon constantly in a marine system does. As for the use of GFO. If you have a proper reactor then I highly recommend its use from initial startup...

    My First Marine: AquaReef 400

If you want to do a reef tank I highly suggest a GFO reactor. Carbon is not as important and studies suggest carbon causes lateral line erosion in fish. The GFO will really cut down on your algae blooms. And as for the artificial source. My company uses krill or shrimp in a filter sock in the...

    My First Marine: AquaReef 400

the only real way to speed up the process is to increase the temperature and use an artificial source for ammonia to get the bacteria going. The problem with that is no fish or anything during that process.

    My First Marine: AquaReef 400

It takes several months min to seed live rock. I suggest Real Reef aquacultured rock if they have that in the UK. Its live rock that was artificially made and then cured for months in a indoor closed system which means no pests. Def the best rock out there IMO my company uses it in nearly...

    My 1500gal plywood build (pics)

Just wanted to make a quick update. Everything in the pond is going good. Had a few unfortunate deaths (alligator gar and planicepts catfish) But other than that the rest are doing great and growing all to quick! My RTC is about 32" long now the last I was in it doing maintenance, TSN is only...

    120 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

I second the vote for salt...it is way more enjoyable than fresh. With a 120 there is soo much you can do. Though I will say your budget is on the low side. Salt is one of those things that either u do it right the first time and enjoy it or half ass it and hate it. I think you will really like...
