Ivanacara sp. or other acara types...water parameters question

Yeah I don't want to make a mistake, are there any other acara type species that would better suit my wants? I'm hesitant to try the bimaculatum. I'm a bit intimidated.

Brand new 180 gallon build after 12 year hiatus.

I have tuned the overflow, and used 2.5" on the primary, 4.5" on the secondary, and 6.75" on the tertiary emergency. Driftwood is on order and waiting on my LFS to get new plants in stock.

Thank you, I read the same info on Synergy Shadow installation instructions. I've never had an external overflow setup, and I was really excited to play with it. Really detailed info and I appreciate it! I've played with it more since that video and I believe I have near silence from the...

Brand new 180 gallon build after 12 year hiatus.

And so I plumbed the overflow as well as roughly set items where I wanted them. I've filled the tank and tuned the Synergy Shadow overflow, which was the hardest part in my opinion. It takes the proper internal piping length combination as well as tuning the primary overflow pipe gate valve to...

Brand new 180 gallon build after 12 year hiatus.

And so I did get the seamless sump! This evening I started rinsing the sump sections out, and dry fitting some of the plumbing. I plan on going to the big box store tomorrow for overflow piping and tubing for the returns. The first section has two filter socks that will spill to the bio media...

Back in the hobby after long haitus, SCA aquarium?

Good info, thanks. Does anyone else have a recommendation for an aquarium setup? I would like to see some freshwater tanks set up with overflows and a sump! What's the perfect setup look like? I'm planning a geophagus community setup.... probably Sveni if I can find them and red heads if I can't.

Back in the hobby after long haitus, SCA aquarium?

Very cool thanks for sharing. I am not very familiar with all of the equipment in your setup, but i like how it looks very neat and organized. I need to research what the best setup for freshwater would be. I have never seen a roller mat! Those are pretty cool.

Back in the hobby after long haitus, SCA aquarium?

Do you have an example? I've used the eshopps and it was so loud...i wouldn't want to do that again. I had a 265g that wasn't drilled so I used the eshopps HOB overflow. I want the best setup, so I'm glad you responded! Why did you go with the trigger 44? I'm going to need to choose a sump...

Back in the hobby after long haitus, SCA aquarium?

Hello, I'm looking to get back into the hobby after almost 8 years. I want a 2x2x5 foot aquarium and I think I'm going to stock eartheaters. Not sure on specifics but I've always liked Sveni. They may be too big so I may just go with the ever popular tapajos. I want a beautiful display tank...

    48" 120g and geophagus

Hello, I'm trying to get back into the hobby, and I'm looking for a tank currently. I'm looking on a budget (Craigslist etc) and plan on doing a sump for filtration. A 60"x24" tank would be sweet but albeit hard to find other than purchasing new. 48" is ideal for the space, which brings me to a...
