FS 200g FW complete, Manhattan KS, MUST GO! PU only.

Mid-life crisis sale! Getting divorced, hobbies are shifting back to what they used to be- motorcycles and cars. Moving to a smaller apartment and would just rather sell/trade everything than move it again. Don't get me wrong, I love my fish, but I'd rather be out drag racing motorcycles...

Trickle Material for filter? Design questions..

I have the same issue with my DIY drip plate- in addition to my son leaning on it and giving it a big fat crack down the middle. I've been looking for a Rubbermaid lid or similar to fit in, but since it's a custom size it's hard to do. If you have the time, I suppose a fiberglass one-off would...

Cooling down tank water without expensive chiller

I am running a mag12 and a mag18. My wife keeps the house at 76 degrees- no getting that lowered. The tank is opposite the air exchange- it's actually in front of the return pulling evaporated water away. I could try putting a small fan in the cabinet with my sump, when I open the doors you...

    Water bill question

I believe they give us a fixed allotment here as well. First water bill was $52/mo, and has never gone up even adding 2 more adults to the household and upgrading from changing 46g/mo to 300+g/mo.

    Return Pump recommendations?

I would anticipate they rate that flow rate low to protect from "oh crap I flooded my apartment and now i'm being sued by my landlord and it's all your fault so i'm suing you" type of thing. I would get the mag9, and just put a ball-valve on the pump output to reduce flow if necessary.

    powerheads for drainging tank???

I have heard of people using powerheads, or canisters, to drain their tanks. Considering my python flows about 100gph (takes an hour to do a 50% drain on my 200g) you can get a 400gph powerhead for $50 and bring that hour job to 15 minutes. I personally don't mind the wait, although my...

    Return Pump recommendations?

How big is your overflow? I run a mag12 and mag18 through my single 1" drain in my one 7" corner overflow just fine.

Cooling down tank water without expensive chiller

I usually keep my tank at a nice 78.9 degrees. I recently added a 2nd pump to my setup, which apparently has brought the temp up to 80.8 I have lost a cory cat, I am assuming as a result of this. I unplugged my heaters one at a time to see if they were adding too/causing the issue, but the...

    Changing Water Temperator

I use a meat thermometer that I stick in the drain of my sink under my python, I measure the temp of water coming out of the tank with it, and match the tap water to that temp. I have killed 3 balas from temp shock once, darn cat jumped in the sink and bumped the tap handle knocking it colder...

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

Yeah, I think I'll just extend the standpipes. Nearby LFS has some silver aro's for $79 and TSN for $29... they usually have RTCs too... Might pick one out, the TSNs were only about 2" long, so I might not get one of those. Love to get an aro tho.

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

Which idea is better- raise the water level in my overflow by adding a coupler to each of the drain tubes; or drill holes in the weir to lower water level in tank and potentially reduce the drop distance of the water?

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

Just finished the plumbing. I upgraded the main overflow to 1 1/4" piping, reducing to 1" at the bulkhead. I also used 1 1/4" for the inflow from the mag18 under the tank, then reduced to 1" and split between two line-loc. Everything else I did in 1" thin-wall sch40. Handles both pumps like...

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

My LFS sells hang-on overflows, so if my drilled ones cant handle it I'll just have to add one. I figure i'll use 1 1/4" pvc to re-plumb everyhing, 1 1/2" seems like overkill. Sent from my MZ617 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

Any recommendations as far as upgrading bulkhead holes in a seasoned tank? It has a 2" acrylic bottom. I could just bore out the 3/4" bulkhead to a 2", if thats big enough, and use the 1" as my emergency Sent from my MZ617 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

Is it possible just upgrading from tubing to standard 1" pvc pipe would increase my overflow capacity given that a 1" insert fitting only has a 3/4" i.d. anyway? Sent from my MZ617 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

    Piping sizes and bulkhead limitations

My birthday is coming up, and my wonderful wife ordered me a danner mag 18 for my present. I currently have a mag 12 and it just doesnt provide the turnover i'd like to see. I want to use both pumps together to provide ~2500 gph flow to give me 10x turnover. I have a 200g that used to have...

    A Filter Sock Thread

I recently ordered some of the two-in-one filters, 5726K15 Polyester Extended-Life Felt Filter Bag, 50 Micron, 7" Diameter X 16-1/2" Height They are the 100/50 Micron filters, I accentaly got the ones with the stainless steel ring instead of the plastic, they work good for me, so far no...

    Building new sump

New socks came in, the 7x16" McMaster-Carr dual 100/50 micron. I haven't had water without some sort of particles floating around, until now! I just need to get some pot scrubbies to fill up the remainin space in my wet/dry chamber, this sump has 2x the bio capacity as the last one. Picked up...
