My birthday is coming up, and my wonderful wife ordered me a danner mag 18 for my present. I currently have a mag 12 and it just doesnt provide the turnover i'd like to see. I want to use both pumps together to provide ~2500 gph flow to give me 10x turnover. I have a 200g that used to have two corner overflows, which i removed one and am using the other as a herbie style. Problem is they are small holes- 1" and 3/4" NPT, one of each in both overflows. I use the 1" from the removed overflow weir for inflow and plugged the 3/4. In my overflow the 1" is my full siphon and the 3/4 is my durso emergency. My ball valve is barely turned on the 1". Will I be able to put that much flow through a 1" hole at full siphon? I am also using 1" tubing to run all my plumbing, inflow and overflow. Danner suggests 1 1/2" piping and i am needing to upgrade to larger PVC, but will my 1" and 3/4" bulkheads just bottleneck the flow making the rest of the 1 1/2" pointless?
I would unplug the 3/4" inflow and move my mag12 to it and use the 1" for the mag18.

Other, last resort options would be to get a hang-on overflow or attempt to drill my overflow bulkheads larger(stupid because i cant empty the tank)

1" PVC will flow approximately 600gph at a full siphon. So if you have two, that 1200 Danner is about the most you could run. I think you are going to have to look at upgrading the draing line or adding another overflow in order to allow for the 1800, let alone both of the pumps.

Any recommendations as far as upgrading bulkhead holes in a seasoned tank? It has a 2" acrylic bottom. I could just bore out the 3/4" bulkhead to a 2", if thats big enough, and use the 1" as my emergency

This is not true. My old 220 was setup as a herbie. It had a 1" main and a 3/4" emergency and I ran it for a week with a mag 18 and it easily handled that flow. And with both drains it handled a mag18 and mag9 at the same time. But without a dedicated emergency I didnt feel safe running both pumps. My current 225g has 2 laguna max flo 2000's and 3x1" drains. It could easily handle another pump too.

Just finished the plumbing. I upgraded the main overflow to 1 1/4" piping, reducing to 1" at the bulkhead. I also used 1 1/4" for the inflow from the mag18 under the tank, then reduced to 1" and split between two line-loc. Everything else I did in 1" thin-wall sch40.
Handles both pumps like a champ! My ball valve is 1/5th of the way turned and is still not using my emergency drain.
Redid things so I can have both my 7" socks filtering at the same time. Also re-did my overflow weir using gutter guard.

Now the only thing making noise is that massive waterfall in my overflow, any suggestions on how to reduce this noise?

Which idea is better- raise the water level in my overflow by adding a coupler to each of the drain tubes; or drill holes in the weir to lower water level in tank and potentially reduce the drop distance of the water?
