patch

I know one can simply patch a crack on the bottom of a tank, can the same be done on a side. Its a 180 with a crack on one of the 2X2 sides, could it just be patched? I guess my question is if a tank cracks on the side isn't it the same as the bottom, except you can see it, so maybe putting an...
