05.04.12: The plastic plant bug strikes again. Makeover time!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks E! Man a VATF would be nice. Yours was one of the coolest I'd ever seen. I think my tank is a little small though for one of those, and I'd have to remove a lot of the wood...

Its small for a full grown VATF, but with the growth rate of them it should last you a couple years before selling him to me Lol. I don't think the branches would have that much of an effect on one but... never know until you try it ;)

What if you did one of those half tank half reptile set ups? I bet you would pull off a wicked set up big dogg!!
Chameleons on top and Archers on bottom... you'll get the full "spit to kill" from the archers on the daily  (YOUUTUUBE)

P.S.
WTH, did you put Christmas Lights on that first pic of page 4??? Looks crazy!

Looks good J! Glad to see you back around:) How about Congo Tetras? Those were always fun for me;) Didn't want live plants again?

Yeah Congos....my favorite community type schooling fish.

Check out this monster Altifrons I picked up at my lfs! He's about 10", they had about eight of them. Wish I could afford the whole group!!

The only tetras I have been able to keep with my Mesonauta have been massive colombian tetras. All other tetras that I've tried to keep with them (let's see, smaller bleeding hearts, black phantoms, lemons, HY511s, smaller colombians) would be chased by the festivums and by the next morning, they were gone. Just watch the festivums (you might be ok if you grow them out with the tetras). In my opinion, Mesonauta insignis are the best looking when full grown.

And nice geo and satanoperca!

Jose Im diggn the grassy plants in the rocks but there are too many hanging plants...just looks too fake.

As far as diff fish how about some compressiceps or some calvus? They have color(nothing compared to cichla :) , and dont become tank busters. Dont grow nearly as big as frontosas. But have that really cool cichlid look.

Good to see ya back buddy. And even better to see the tank w/out the boring arse discus in it. My brother even got rid of his and is now on a loach kick. Keep us updated w/ the new pick ups.
