Yeah Joseph! You're setting yourself up for an EXPENSIVE sweet 16 and/or wedding! Best to start low, I've learned this is true in relationships as well.

lol...thanks for everyones comments and kind words...The wife and I rented a large banquet hall in one of the casinos here. Which provides a buffet to are 100 guests. Which ran us already $2200. We also have centerpieces, invitations and a slideshow presentation. For entertainment we have hula dancers and a DJ ohh did I mention an OPEN BAR!!!! hahahahahaha.....Its my daughters first B-day July 7, but my wife's is July 23 and mines July 31....so kinda like our party too....lol...except we are getting nothing and our name aren't on the invitation!!!!! hahahaha. Its more of an old tradition in hawaii to throw a large first b-day, but even if im not in hawaii any more my parents say its a must (cause is their first grandchild)

Here you go straight out of Wikipedia...

The birthday luau

  • It is customary for Hawai‘i families, regardless of ethnicity, to hold a lū‘au to celebrate a child's first birthday. In Hawaiian culture (and also in Korean culture), the first birthday is considered a major milestone. (See entry under "for visitors from the mainland" for fuller description).
