1.000.000 gallon pond build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Absolutely amazing!!! Although i haven't been here long, i think its safe to say this must be the biggest pond (if not the top 3 biggest) here on MFK... Would be sick to see an MBU or 3 in there... especially if the water clears up...

So any chance of flying those of us following your thread out to your new pond for a swim once its done??? :naughty: hahahaha

Ya gotta love heavy equipment.

Many have asked on the pond sides.
It is a very hard clay like layered ground.
i Hope they wont cave in that easy. like many projects this is just the start and I really have to wait and see what happens.
for now ,only water comming straight out of the ground is filling it up on the deep end its up to 7 feet allready and its been only two weeks after turning of the pump to keep the water out.
like i said before its probably not going to fill in the dry season only by ground water so I,m waiting for the rain.

The reason i Built it in the dry season is I want to see if it was going to hold any water at all.
Now im sure when i put fish in it will not dry out completly next season.
water quality will improve actually when l put fish in.

I'm amazed by the amount of people seeing and writing my post in less than 24 hours.
I will make sure i post the pics of the fish i put in.
I will leave the pond to "mature" for at least two months before putting anything fancy in.
It might take up to a year for the water to balance out.
I do have a fence around to keep the bigger animals out. but once its fiiled up i will open the fence for dear or other wildlive who need water.

if the sides cave in i might come back next dry season just to clean up the sides.

Thanks again for all the interest. this is what keeps a poster posting after all.
