1-2ft Lizard

Not hard. They like it hot, so you'll have a bump in the power bill, but they eat veggies and prepared foods (no need to mess with feeders) and are relatively inactive, so they don't need as big a cage as a water dragon or something like that.

I used to have 2. There really cool lizards like stated before keep em hot feed vegies and you dont have to use a water bowl because they get liquids from there food. i still kept a little one in there just to be safe

As a kid, I had a pair of Collard Lizards. They have a reputation of being best as a display animal but I handled mine every day and they did extremely well. They learned to appreciate my body heat and totally lost their flighty nature. So be it this took daily handling.

They are North American natives (SouthWestern US), have low to moderate care needs and are readily available... And they are prettier than beardies too!

I have a nice breeding pair of Cuban Knight Anoles (Anolis equestris). They grow to around 20". It is a very nice pair, they are flawless. Awseome looking lizard and not hard to maintain.

Not my picture but they look like this >

Uro's would be cool. You could also do some of the larger Chameleon species (Jacksons are sick and have amazing colors).

I would get a chameleon but I don't want to worry about the humidity in a screen cage. I like collared lizards, how big do they get? Can you hold Cuban Knight anloes? And what size enclosure would a frilled dragon need?

collard lizards stay less than a foot, no you usually can;t hold knight anoles and I have my frilled in a 55 and I think that will be fine for a while if not the rest of his life.
