well Ive got something similiar going now with the cement. I used quickwall in my axolotl habitat build and its a waterproof cement, Ive got plywood involved as the structure but no cement board, instead 1 inch polystyrene insulation board rougheded up.
Idea is the same though using waterproof cement so if it holds up and I end up building a big tank I will use quickwall with antihydro over 1/2" cement board (killer bond and stiffness adder) time will tell whether the cement holds up and if there are any negatives.
