Is 1/4" glass strong enough to fill a 150 gallon to the top? I thought anything over 90 should be thicker.

Wow that seems thin for tank that size. Are you sure it is an actual "Fish Tank" and not the cheaper type "Reptile Tank"?

Unless it is tempered glass, I would probably say no. It just is not worth the risk. My 120g has a tempered glass bottom on it and has a clearly marked sign attached at the bottom telling you not to drill it. The rest of the tank however is regular glass and is thicker than 1/4".

I think it's 3/8" thick. The guy didn't even measure, but he said it's not 1/2". So is 3/8" thick enough? The silicone looked brand new. He said it was only used for 6 months.

Run the dimensions through a thickness calculator that factors for water depth and side wall lengths and you should have a good idea. 3/8" is normal for framed tanks around 4' long with a water depth of about 25". Bottom pressure is the most important factor and unbraced side length is the next most important factor, when figuring glass thickness. The number of gallons does not really matter, bottom pressure is all about the depth of the water.

Many people have no clue on reading a tape measure. If it is a tank made from a company and not homemade then it is probably thicker than 1/4".
