I just scored some cheap 1/4" plate glass from craigslist. I got 4 pieces, each 48"x14".

What would you do with them?

Make a long skinny tank?

Make a sump?

Use to make a 48x48x14 tank (purchasing a bottom piece to fit)?

Use them in a plywood build of whatever size?

Wood tank

48x48x 16 wood bottom

Well, I can get a piece of glass (new) at 48"x48.5"x1/4" for $79.52 here in town. Not sure if I could do a plywood tank cheaper than that for the same size...

That would probably be easiest. You'll need to brace it too though, won't you?

Yah, but I can get braces cut for not too much. And at only 14" high, it wouldn't need massive bracing.

It'd be a good ray tank (or at least grow out tank).

That's exactly what I'd do with them.

Or, how about a wood tank 100" X 48" X 14", with 2 front windows?

I did think about that. Very short tank for the footprint though :).

You could make a grow out tank or breeder tank...or a combination of both. I have or had a really long and narrow tank that was divided into smaller compartments. Each divider had a hole drilled in it with screen glued over it. The water was drawn off of one end and then returned to the other end.

1/4" glass is easy to cut, so you can use it for a ton of different things.
