I haven't found thier growth rate to be extremely quick. Maybe .5"-.75" a month. They are supposed to top out at 10". Some of the bigger ones chase the smaller ones but no real aggression. Thier parents are not aggressive at all towards other fish even small fish that would be feeders to oscars etc. but only occasionally towards one another (like most mated pairs). They are still a couple inches away from being positively sexed.
 
Are you interested in a trade for a complete 10 gallon set up? It has a heater 20 gallon hob filter lid and light. The tank has black trim, but the lid and light are oak. If so how many Cubans would you be willing to part with?

unfortunately I am already over run by ten gallon tanks. i am actually trying to get rid of them altogether. I would trade for heaters 100 watts and up and filters rated for 50 gallons and up.
