Just to give an idea of how much filtration...

My 4000 gal rubber pond 40'x6'x3' -- http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=29488&hilit=pet+catfish -- had small gravel substrate (1700 lbs; called river nuggets, various size, contained a bit of sand too) and 100 gallons of nylon mesh scrubbies for a filter media (~2000 scrubbies plus some filter pads). The pump was 2000 gph. I had ~300 lbs of fish in there at the max and had no problems with water. There were also a couple of 50 gal plastic tubs full of plastic plants that helped filtering too. Lots of air bubblers.

After extra-heavy feedings, I'd detect more than 0 ppm of ammonia next morning, so I just split them up in smaller but more frequent feedings.

Sounds reasonable.

I will have multiple full grown large South American catfish possibly 2 RTC 1 rtcxtsn and one TSN along with a silver arowana mabye bit that's pretty much it the drums will be filled with those green scrubber pads, pot scrubbers, sponges and if I can get my hands on them bio balls the two 55 gallon drums will be hooked up to an 8,000 gph pond pump along with heaters and some way to connect the drums

Bioballs have very poor surface area for using submerged. Are you trying to make a moving bed filter? Could you supply a drawing of your filter design?

OK, I have seen that design before. Yes, simple and effective. I would use something with more surface than bioballs, though. Scrubbies, shotgun wads, lava rock. Those would be the least expensive and all would be better alternatives IMO. Of course there are better more costly media.

should work well, I'm running a Mag pump and have 2 diy towers filled w/ pot scrubbies. Stock also seems "full" but reasonable.
