1 canister filter for a 300g

one can will work fine if you don't mind hiding a couple of sponge filters in there run em on air or a powerhead, and make sure you have plenty of flow (extra powerhead or 2 ) seems like everybody's answers revolve around spending big$$$.....but 1 big can is a lot to start with if you were to use 2 aqua clear 50 powerheads for circulation , you could attach a sponge filter to each and have plenty of filtration, and you can get the sponge filters for about $10 each

I had a CFS700 and a FX5 running on my 220 HEAVILY stocked. I did a 50% WC every Monday and my water was crystal clear. Only issue I had with the CFS700 was the stupid button on it broke and I had to cut out the switch and hardwire the plug

I would use two Eheim 2262. They will last longer than the tank. I think they are the best filter on the market. Very versatile.

Howdy,

:iagree:
I run two 2262 on my 220. No doubt they'd be fine for a sanely stocked 300.

I dont have any where near the money for 2 of those.
Then canisters may not be your best option. The 2262 are really the only viable option for canisters when it comes to a large tank. Think about a sump.
