1 crayfish in a 29?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've got 7 crayfish in 20 g Long tanks, 30 g tanks & 47 g tanks. Each tank has fish in it with the cray. I've got P.clarkiis, C. quad, C. peknyi & C.destructor crays. I've never had a cray eat a fish (knock on wood). In the different cray tanks there's gold and blue gouramis, Dwarf Gouramis, Black Phantom Tetras, Tiger Barbs, Danios, Hatchets, Serpae Tetras & Red Eye Tetras. I just figured the crays left the fish alone because they got more than enough to eat and just weren't hungry enough to hunt fish. The Blue & Gold Gouramis even snatch food away from the big C.quad. Bold fish!

I have my blue lobster housed in a 55 gal with a 5-inch BGK, a 6-inch Royal Clown Knifeand a 5-inch Clown Knife. I also have a couple of Algae eaters. My blue has attempted to catch a fish, but he's as slow as molasses. All of his tankmates ignore him.

thx for all the info one more question what can i feed it to give it a variety of food i have cichlid gold sinking pellets and raw shrimp

Most crays eat plant material as a main part of their diet. So instead of so much protein try feeding veggies of all kinds and algae/spirulina based food. Most our aquatic pets never get enough of that anyway, it's good for fish, too.

i have seen them at petco a few times. they kept them with the feeders. i had one (got it from a river) that went from 3in to 6in and it never ate any of my small fish.

I had 2 crays (one escaped last week) in a 29 gallon with tons of red cherry shirmp, tons of fancy guppys, and their offspring, 2 cory cats and some tetras. I've only ever seen the cray eat one fish.

Keep them well fed and they should not bother the fish unless you have a fiesty crayfish.

Ur cray escaped? LMAO!!!
I was watching t.v one day and he walked into the room.. i was like WTF??
i didn't even know he was out... imagine my face when he sat in front of the tv!! :screwy:
