Have 4 Dovii fry in a little 30 gallon for growing out but they are hiding constantly. Have been like this since they came in. Any ideas on what to do to help them? More decorations? They showed some interest today in some live brine shrimp but besides that they don't really come out.

at that size they fish food and they know it, feed em, grow em, and have patience.

Yep. They think that coming out is dangerous, so they always hide away. This will go on even when they are 2-3 inches. Some species will naturally be braver by then, but usually not Doviis. Sometimes you can get a single odd individual that is fearless, which is great.

In your case though, best way to get them out is to add some dither fish, which can allow them to feel better about venturing out.

more decoration = longer time before go out of their shell
put some more similar sized fishes will help. For the first week,Turn off the light, and put it back on only when feeding .
My little female dovii grew up from 1" to 3" within three weeks.

Try tubifex or blood worms. Live is best ime, it worked on my parachromis Mota and Manas wonderfully. Only downside is the jag is now regularly killing his silver dollars that he can grab and not swallow.
