Is 1 fx5 enough to filter a 125 gallon tank by itself? Tank has 1 oscar, 3 silver dollars, 3 convicts and 3 pictus catfish. It currently has 3 xp3's filtering it but i would like to move those to my other tanks.I could keep 1 of the xp3 on there with the fx5 if need be but would rather use it on another tank.

1 fx5 is plenty for a 125. you need to do WC's regardless the filter.

maybe if u get like 1 or 2 power heads pointed towards the bottom to kick up debrees

yep, I have an FX5 on a 125 and I'm not happy with it. I'm going to move it to my 265 and slap a few XP3s on the 125.

Why are you not happy with it? I have an FX5 on my 125 and love it. I do have something to put current on the bottom of my tank though. I do a 25-30% water change every sunday.

I shouldn't have to add additional current to my tank with what that filter flows.

I'm waiting for my fx5 to come in the mail for my 125. I've heard a lot of people throw on an aquaclear 110 or two (or three!) with them on the 125 gallon range. I'm going to run just the fx5 and a powerhead and see how that works, I have a Rena XP3 sitting around if need be.
