check your receipt they are over charging people! They are not suppose to charge sales tax on the higher amount then you actually paid for the product.
This one is going to hurt them because they just settles a lawsuit in Cali for over charging customers.

wow, that sucks, i work retail and our coupons aren't like that. 9 cent on every dollar ain't bad though considering the deal you got.
They can not do that, charge you double sales tax. I just got back from there & waited about 20 minute for the manager to come out of office after calling corporate & stated because of manufacture coupon. Advised it is not advertised like that & can not do that. I asked who is getting the extra sales tax???? Advised that sales tax goes to the state/tax man not Petco or aquaeon!
Asked him if he bought a car & had $5000 off the price is he going to pay sales tax on that $5000? aaahhhh...... he says that different. I told him I knew he was just a little person (although he was easy 6.4?) under corporate & its not his fault.
So now it will become feral in the media in which I am notifying now & will be contacting the state in the morning.
+ had a an employee say that they are trying to dress the stores up to sell!

The only way I can see Petco being allowed to do this is if it was advertised as "x dollars after rebate". In such a case, you'd pay tax on the purchase price and get the rebate later. Dunno if it matters if the "rebate" is instantaneous or mail-in.Somethingfishyinc.net;4434628; said:
