1 inch Smallmouth bass fry

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when you get your 10 gallon set up, you might wanna use that airstone you have and put a sponge filter on the end of it just to add some serious biological filteration. i always had problems with the cleaness of my water but as soon as i added a small sponge filter it help big time.

Ok I am probably going to the fish store tomorrow, please suggest anything I would need to buy for these small mouth bass: types of plants, gravel or sand, type of filter, brightness of light, ect. Could you use a pool filter sand and an airstone with a sponge filter at the end of it in the same tank? Also they ate some tiny worms early this day, so how aften do I feed them? I found 2 baby crawdads in my creek behind my house could I feed them those?

Thanks for the responses! Keep them comin'.

You can place the sponge filter anywhere in the tank, just as long as it doesnt touch the substrate you will be fine, make sure you clean the sand first for any impurities. Any plants will do aslong as they are low light plants, java ferns are easy to grow, there is alot of options. driftwood looks amazing to and helps them feel more safe. i really like the aquaclear brand but im not sure which filter to recommend for a small tank. you will be safe even if you over filter

i just looked up a pool filter sand and they are very expensive. Do you think I could use regular gravel or some other inexpensive substrate? Do you think they will be fine with a 3 rocks that provide very good protection (description of them is in #18) or do think they could use some small drift wood also?
Thanks.

go to a local homedepot if you have one and get some play sand, its a very nice brown colour and its super cheap (maybe 6$) that will work good. yeah they will be fine, it just adds to their comfort a bit if they have stuff to hide by, especially for the catfish

Ok awesome. So I don't need to buy a pool filter sand, right? Would it be better to buy the sand at a pet store or the home depot or does it not matter.

Here's the 3 gallon tank
