What are the stores like in New Zealand?

When I went there I had a day to wander around Auckland but didn't see anything close to a pet store apart from a dog grooming shop.

We don't have much in the way of the pet shops, the main chain store has like 10 tanks in there stores.

There are a couple of specialist fish store in around NZ, but they are not that big, and due to the excessive cost of real-estate in auckland they tend to be hidden in the industrial shops, not around the main shopping centres.

The main thing stopping the hobby growing in NZ is out Quarantine and import laws that make fish a lot more expensive here.

Those customs workers were crazy. I had dirt on my boots and they completely removed every spec of dirt on them and buffed out the gortex to the point they looked new. Then they had everyone sit down to be interviewed to see if we were bringing in "potentially dangerous food into the country.

I made it back home. Was stranded for about 6 hours. But it was a good test for me and my girlfriend. We got the car towed home. I think it's the water pump that went out of it. We will get it fixed this week and might try to go back again weekend.

Yes that was quite a test to be cooped up together and stranded for six hours,glad all turned out well though.
