1 more time for Armatus

Okay, I am highly considering an Armatus from River Wonders.
Before I do I need to know some things...
Can you compare the swimming of an Armatus to a common fish for me (trying to get an Idea of his swimming habbits)
At 4" what is the good size to start starving him to get him on non live foods??

Last Q, is I don't have a Quarentine tank, so how often do Armatus come in sick or with parasites????
 
my first one came in with gill flukes. have salt and prazipro on hand (only medications i would recommend). once u have him established and healthy, u can start on frozen foods. trust me it will be nothing like ur tat. the only thing is they wont work with ur other fish, unless u get ur huge tank (and thats a maybe). they are known to hate atf's, and they get more and more aggressive as they get older. i dont think RR has anymore....

My ATF'S are gone. I sold one and about 3 days after I sold one, the other died for no reason:irked:.

I called RR on Friday and they said they get more on Monday 1/21/08

Can you compare his swimming to another fish?
 
they swim the same as a tat except they are always on the look for food, and always watching people outside the tank. mine swims around regularly too. its like a tat on steroids!!!!

What would you say.... It is easier to get Tats off live or Armatus?
 
My armatus came in with a fish louse. Easy fix.

I wouldnt try to get off of live until at least 10" Mine went from 4" to 10" in less then three months.

I like the armatus way more then my 12" VATF. The VATF did swim alot but was too skiddish and spaztic for me. The armatus will casually swim from spot to spot. They swim with a confidence level that the typical predatory characin lacks.

Man, I don't know how much you can dig the VATF, but I love this fish. For you to say the Armatus is better than the VATF, That is BIG.
You could sell me a dream off of that quote:D
Yeah, If I can sell my daughters tank (in the buy/sell), I should get an Armatus:D
 
My VATF freaked everytime I walked into the room. The armatus on the other hand, slowly turns to look at me, then shakes his head and bares his teeth to assert dominance....yeah cooler then VATF.

just remember they grow rely rely fast. mine only lasted 7 months in a 140.
