O.k., so it would be legal for me to take the baby turtles swimming around our private lake?

And also, what do you feed stinkpots..I am very interested in those little guys. Any good websites?
Can I keep them with other turtles..such as mud turtles? Will they put out their "stink"? What does it smell like?

I couldn't tell you if you can take baby turtles in CA. You're going to have to check with your state's Fish & Game Assoc. And they only stink if you catch them, it's a defense mechanism. But I've never had it happen to me.

I feed my baby Musk turtle worms, crickets, Reptamin Pellets, freeze dried shrimp, tuna fish, aquatic insect larva, cichlid pellets and shrimp pellets

It’s not really a good idea to mix turtle species unless you have a huge enclosure for them or a large pond.

I have a mud turtle and i read that muds do it too.
but do you know what it smells like? I heard that some yellow slime comes out of the shell or..??

are stinpots basking turtles? do they need UVB lights or would the sun do?
o.k. would a 125gallon do for a mud and a stinkpot?

125 is PLENTY . :]
keeping turtles outdoors is better hsn UVB. Do you mean sun coming through a window? If so you need uvb..

I keep my water temperature between 75 and 80 F degrees. As they get older you can keep the water a little cooler but they grow the quickets in warm water.

I know I answered the UVB question in another recent thread. They don't really need UVB rays because they don't bask, but I give mine a UVB bulb just to play it safe. And yes, a 125 gallon tank is a great size for a Mud or Musk turtle.

I'm sorry, was just making sure about the UVB thing.

And I meant that can a 125gallon be o.k. for BOTH mud and stinpot..together.

The 125 seemed a little too big for just 1 turtle so I went and bought a 40gallon breeder.

And I meant taking him outside for the sun..yeah I read that UVB can't go through glass..
