You no longer chase girls?

Anyway

Age 14-17 Fresh water(gold fish)
Age 17-20 college no money
Age 21-38 Fresh water.

I spend probably average average about one hour on fish every day.

from 7 to 18 y.o. - freshwater
18 to 23 - fresh and saltwater
23 to 38 - saltwater
38 to 40 no fish
40 to 43 freshwater.

It depends, you can have 15 years of experience, growing raising, understanding the fish.
-or-
You can have the same 1st year or fish experience 15 times. Conceivable, you could have a goldfish live about a year, never change the water, and have it die early, clean the tank, take all the water out, and do it again 15 times.

Time spent doesn't equate to understanding of what is going on. Understanding takes a lot more of a commitment than just time.

Ah, I never said it meant anything, time spent that is. I don't believe in expert handles. But, many believe that amount of hours entitles you to something. I think i should get some sort of award, and my name engraved on some kind of trophy! I kid, I kid.

Yes, for all these years I've never moved beyond the new tank syndrome...

Welcome then. :)

Thanks. It's more from time spent thinking about fishes & being on MFK, though, rather than direct experience although that takes up a sizable amount of time, too. Of course then, me taking an Ichthyology class a few years ago lead to a lot more time spent thinking about fishes from more than a hobby perspective.

12592.5 hrs. I'm in the club!! 23 years of maintaining at least one tank...went with 1.5 hrs a day. Probably closer to 3 hrs a day for the past 2 years checking Craigslist for deals and time spent on MFK!

Oh, and watch out for the "women" trap. it'll get ya, and cut your hours significantly. Its the blackhole of the fish keeping experience. ;)

ha ha..totally agree..infact i think i am goin through the phase now..but at 19 i hav already been in the hobby for over a decade and lookin forward to many more years of fishkeeping..its the best hobby guys..cheers.
