I was wondering when you were going to post these. The silver one looks amazing, I love the ability to capture the detail and contrast on that guy.

Did you try bumping the speedlite down to 14mm.

Yeah I didnt really mess with the zoom level on the flash too much. I need to build a little rig to use bounce flash, I like the results of that as opposed to the spotlight look. Although it may not work too well since it's such a small tank.

niiice bettas there
i have one which looks very similar to the purple halfmoon of urs
and i have this one betta whom i haven't been able to shoot yet
its a jet black plakat, but the tank it is in has too much white (background and substrate)
 
beautiful specimens! makes me want to get back into the betta game... i've been eyeing some halfmoon plakats lately.
 
Nice purple copper half moon. When you gettn into the other wild species of betta? I think some of their colors are even more intense.
