Thanks guys. It deeply saddened me to do so. He was a big ,gorgeous fish. But makes sense to rehome the trouble maker than the rest of the tank, right?

Yes, and Snooky would have been very unhappy in half a tank, so the divider would not have worked. You did the right thing and you had no other choice -- don't feel bad!!!

Very rare to get a BGK be aggressive ..but when they are in my opinion you have a good one..because most of them are fragile and alot of them never make 10 inches so you did a great job raising him and i am not surprised he was grabbed up instantly...

Mine only gets agressive at feeding time when the senegal goes hunting in his cave.

When the aggression was going on with the Sen though I only had three 7-8'' Sens in the 55G. There as plenty of room then. Now two Sens and 1 Delhz, are 9'' and one Sen is 7'' and they all get along fine. Always cramming into the same pile lol.

I think you need a 75g tank for the bgk and a lot of hiding places.

I do think with the size of the fish you listed that the tank was overstocked, but IMHO it would not have helped the aggression problem to move to a larger tank unless you had the ability to go considerably over 300 gal.

The central issue is that although BGK and bichirs swim in all parts of the water column, they are ALL bottom strata dwellers in essence. Therefore, whatever size tank you put them in, they all want a piece of the real estate on the floor.

An extra 1-2 feet of length gained (by upgrading to a 75 or 125) is not really all that much when you are dealing with fish that are getting close to being one foot long like Snooky and your polys. You have to increase your capacity multiple times to gain floor space. :tropicalf
