8 years but after many changes to my internal filter . which at the end i had to punch it to start the impeller lol .
this new one i made is working great

Errr, does it work alright? cause the bacteria's only just getting started on the Nitrogen Cycle.
took the spung out of the old filter which had not been taken out the tank so was always under water . just stuff in after the new media .
If it works thats all that matters. Necessity is the mother of invention. Doesnt have to be pretty just effective.
