I am moving into my dorm next month and am wondering if there is any way that i could possibly keep a LMB in a 10 gal tank... There is a pond close so if i could only keep them until a certain size then i could release them quickly. If anyone has any info. i would like some advise. I haven't got any yet because i dont know much about keeping a LMB.

Never release any fish into the wild. If fishkeepers would start learning personal responsibility, things like HR 669 would never happen. Do not plan to keep and release. Your tank sounds perfect for a Betta and some shrimps, as well as snails, or some neon tetras, a couple of snails. Do not continue what is an ignorant practice and will doom the rest of the responsible fishkeepers.

notta problem... i saw this site and figured if anyone would tell me whats up you guys would... so no bass... any chance i could get a small bluegill or sunfish, im taking the advise given im just curious

There are some pygmy sunfish who only grow to three inches, but you'd have to look for them, and they still wouldn't be happy in a ten gallon. Ten gallons aren't good for much. The suggestions above would be great in a ten gallon. You could add some anubias on driftwood, which requires very little light (about the amount that is included with the standard ten-gallon light) and have a great tank.

Is the dorm's regulation ten gallons?

I'm so glad to help. Thanks for being mature and listening. You have no idea how many we encounter that ask the question, but don't really give a damn. The neons would be awesome. Plant the tank with the plant mentioned, anubias, on driftwood. It doesn't need to root, so you don't have to worry about substrate. Unless you cycle first, add slowly, but I'd still recommend you cycle. If you have questions about that, ask. I'd recommend an aqua-clear HOB filter. Please ask if you have any more questions. We want to help (especially, those are willing to be helped!).

Well, if LMB are native in his range, it wouldn't really do much to release them. Then again, it would be trained to take food from you and possibly become lazy in the wild (then die off).

Regardless, releasing fish is very bad and only gives the government a reason to ban the fish trade.

The last is the point. Also, fish can pick up parasites and bacteria in the fish trade which are not normally encountered by native fish, thereby presenting a danger to native wildlife. It just shouldn't happen. I want to keep my fish, and I will do as much as I can to educate others in order to do so!
