Since you are on Monsterfishkeepers.com, then start a breeding pair of Convict Cichlids......I do not know your personal collection yet, I have not read about......But if you are new to the monster communtiy(I see you have 156 posts), then you will definately be influenced to start a MONSTER TANK......The best cichlid to start off with to learn and to respect more about the cichlid world is the Convict Cichlid........The Convict shows the basic breedinf procedure of every medium to large cichlid........It also show the degree of fashion you can possibly address your cichlid by means of food preperation..........

Start a planted tank......A 10g is perfect to experiement aquatic plants.....Becuase of the size, a 10g tank is not that expensive to maintain when dealing with plants.....A small C02 kit does not cost a lot for this size of a tank..........The light fixture also does not cost an arm and a leg..........

Most suggestions have been mentioned already. If you do go cichlid, keep them by themselves as they will kill other fish

a high-fin red spotted pleco (good for 10 gal, cause they don't get big)

I would like to see a picture of this as i can't recall a red spotted pleco

oh man these are some very good ideas! In the room I'm putting the tank in I have a 29 gallon tank with white sand in it. So I'm not sure if I want to put white sand in the 10 gallon or blue gravel (I have extra of both) once I make a choice on that I will setup my tank, I think I am going to put a lot of my extra fake plants in there. Once all that is done I'll figure out some fish! Hard choices!

I agree with the convicts, small, good learning cichlid, easy to breed and they are cheap! However, don't make the same mistake I did years ago and get two males, and then having to buy another tank to seperate them.

I think the coolest thing you could do is a shell dweller tank. Thats what I have. Check out my thread.

pygmy cory are always fun to watch, add some neocaridina shrimp for extra fun.
10 gallons are easy to light so lots of plants too.

The Pike Minnow (Belonesox) are facinating little uber agressive predatory fish. They are livebearers and will do well and multiply in a 10G tank.

A live bearing tank would look good and be easy to maintain, maybe a few guppies along with some swordtails would be nice.

Doing the same thing myself in an empty 20 I have for a feeder tank.

Don't forget about the little cichlids... You could always do something with Bolivian, Gold, or German Blue Rams as well.

dwarf puffer tank, thats what im gonna be doing with mine as soon as it finishes cycling. gonna have 2 dwarf puffers and a couple otto cats.
