I am starting a small simple project to grow a few underwater plants. I plan to just keep different nicely-colored crypts and small swords together in a 10 Gallon as few specimen plants.

I have a half-dozen emtpy 10s laying round, so the tank is no trouble. I plan to use the new Pierce CO2 system to provide carbon.

This kit "For Charming Aquarium" includes the micro-regulator, bubble counter, check valve, disposable 95gm CO2 cylinder and cylinder tand.

It's a bare-bones setup, but for the price it can't be beat. You can find the Pierce over at the GLA online store...

More pictures soon!

nice! Tainted Glory was just asking about this setup. hopefully he sees this thread since i dont know much about these little kits

Being the owner of a 10g...Im interested to see how this system performs. I have been thinking about it. Let me know how it ends up working...and if its worth it cost wise. The Replacement co2 seems prohibitively expensive.

Hello there, i just received the same system and tried to set it up, but i cant find the way to pierce the cartridge... i mean i screw the regulator on the cartridge but there is no pin to pierce the bottle in order to exchange co2... im i dumb or what ? :/

thanks!

does it say how long it is supposed to last for? Cause that looks like a small bottle, so I'd be interested in how often you'd have to replace it, because some DIY yeast setups last up to 2 weeks. an interesting possibility would be trying to attach a Paintball tank to it since they're probably cheaper than the replacement cartridge right?

Well if im stating im from Cyprus then apparently im writing from the very small island of Cyprus:) Quite interesting to even know this island, most people from your parts dont even know what is it..

And thats great... i was waiting for this kit to come all over from HK and a part is missing!!!

I understand that at about one bubble every three seconds the canister will last about a month. The replacement canisters are about ten bucks each. I don't know about paintball canisters(?).

I have never been but I have certainly heard of Cyprus.

Did you try to screw the regulator down tight onto the head of the canister?

I set up the tank with the Pierce.

I am not trying to aquascape at all. I just want to get a little collection of plants going. I am going to keep everything growing in Tank Planters and also look for a gravel to cover the bottom and the planters. I need to choose between something light-colored or something darker(?).

The Pierce was super easy to set up. I think it took me all of six minuted or so to get it running.

The diffusor is just a simple small airstone. When I turned on the gas I saw the bubbles just shoot straight to the top. To get somewhat better diffusion I moved the diffusor over right next to the intake for one of those submersible power filters so that the bubbles would get sucked up and blow around a bit more.

Good news we are known on the other side of Atlantic:)

Bad news is that either i lost the pin while unpacking the kit, or my kit wasnt sent with one...

Sure thing is that my kit wont be running in the near future, except if i find a way to attach a custom pin that will pierce the cartridge.. Hm...

i saw your tank in the signature.. awesome! you have a vast variety of plants to choose from.. here in Cy we only have the most common and the only way is to import from HK or Malaysia, but most of the time plants rott: / nice concepts nevertheless!
