10-gallon with Pierce CO2

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When I looked quick into the regulator head the pin was an integrated part right there in the center at the base of the threads. It didn't look like something that would come loose, and it wasn't especially sharp. It was more like a small flat-headed knob with a hole in the middle.

It would be cool to know exactly how much co2 was dissolved in the water. Do you have a drop checker or something of the sort? $10 a month isnt bad...definitely more expensive than a co2 refill though. The diffuser sounds like a disappointment as well. Maybe invest in one of those ceramic/glass diffusers? Or get a fine wooden airstone?

Still super excited to see how this pans out.

i managed to pierce the cylinder and put some plastic o-rings between the reg and the cartridge.. its working fine.. co2 seems to be desolving fine... im a noob so dont take me into account seriously ;)

Thats what I say about my DIY...but unfortunately without numbers to back it up, that isnt saying much. Bugger.

So I just had an idea for shutting down the CO2 every night. How about if I just use an alligator clip to pinch the hose between the cylinder and the bubble counter after the lights go out. This way I will not have to dial in the right pressure again each morning. Does this sound OK?

I would say no go. What stops the pressure?

Your canister is going to keep giving off pressure correct? If thats true then you are just waiting for a blowout somewhere. That wont be good.

Hmm... some people make these little things that can "blow off" pressure. They are usually used on DIY co2 setups where people are concerned that the chunky co2 gunk will plug a hose...search DIY co2...theres some big shot guy out there that built a fancy one and laid it all out. In his setup he depicts the thing Im talking about.

Here's another quick view of the foliage in there.

I'll add some gravel pretty soon to bury those planters for a more natural appearance.
