10 RPB's in 75g tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think 10 in a 75 would be a filtration and aggression nightmare. These fish can reach 12"+ in length and produce a huge amount of waste that they won't tolerate in such a small enclosure. I had 8 6 inchers in a 90 that proved too much to maintain. I had to move them to a 150 before they'd color up properly and start showing a good growth rate.

We have a 12"er at the store in a 40 breeder, that fish is messy by itself.

Wurm, can you get pics of that monster?! Ive never seen a red belly that big!

I would start with ten baby reds in the 75. After six months pick out your best and sell the other five. With the quick growth of Ps if maintained and fed properly it is possible to make some $$ on them, or at least enough that you wont be at a loss.

After another year or so pick out your best three as I think that would be all that you can have in a 75.

I can. I'll snap a shot Monday, when I work next

Saw the title and thought no way. I'd do what JD7 said and end up with 3-5 adults in the 75 although you may have to let go of some as they get larger.

basic rule is 20 gal per red. still, i have 5 in a 77 and they do well...there is one that will probably be killed by his friends, but you often have a weak one in a shoal so i guess this is due to natural survival of the fittest. but yeah i think 4-5 would do well as bogwoodbruce said.

3 is the recommended stocking for a 75g.

I know of another one that is that big but it looks like a sumo wrestler.
