If the OP was SO informed about common fish and trying to avoid them, than why couldn't he tell it was a Jd. If no one set him straight he'd be calling it an umbriferium till the day he died.

give the guy a chance. I have had A couple large jd and I loved them. I was sad when my catfish killed them. I think it's all in the personality of the fh, not how "common" they are. Heck I have an awesome clown knife and they are very common, I wouldn't sell my clown for $100 and I bought him for $15.
