It is a correct statement with a metric But load of data to back it up.
Global warming WILL cause a massive cooling of all temperate areas.
The cold water currents that typically putter there way from the poles to regions more equatorial more have grown in strength exponentially, bringing with them COLD water/air and weather.
Warm water currents that move from the equators to the poles are finding them selves pushed closer and closer to the equator and unable to cross the oceans to repeat the gyre.
The Gulf stream should cross the Atlantic from roughly Cape Cod to Ireland. This is a current thermal map of the ocean from NOAA. It clearly shows the gulf stream is heading east off of Cap Hattaras, NOT Cape Cod, and you can see the Maine Current pushing down the East Coast PAST Virginia Beach.
