$100 diy pond

Well guys so I got bored and wanted to Create a small water garden / pond on my patio something small since I’m on a 2nd story

i will still be adding some more
decor soon but so far I’m at about $100 bucks into it and am pretty happy so far
Yes I know it’s not too notch pro but for something I put together in an afternoon it’s pretty good I felt and wanted to share

It’s a simple 40 gallon stock tank bout $50
20 block from home depos $1.25 each
And I grabbed 10 various plants to start from local pond koi shop for $30
For a Filter im using a extra whisper internal filter that clips on the tank lip and creates a nice little waterfall, flow rate is 170 gph I think I have about 30 gallon of water so going to see how it works in the long run tossed in a few minnows
To get it started
And it’s starting to look like a mini pond!


like I said still not 100% done but so far only $100 into it along with old equipment

The more I look at it the more ideas keep
Coming , but am happy so far ,
If I had more space I’d something larger but for now this is good for my space.

Very cool nano pond. Inspiring to just add a bit of decoration to the pond. I might need to follow suit with mine.

Not too sure yet
Either a few small fancy gold fish or small koi
Or was thinking maybe a small bullhead catfish for a while still not too sure

This looks fantastic, especially considering how cheap the project was!! Good job.

Personally I'd opt for a fancy goldfish, perhaps a fan tail. I believe such fish actually look better above than from a side profile! The koi will foul too much and will need rehoming eventually.

Very nice! And fits the space very well
Considering upgrading isn’t really an option... how about something small like shiners? Rainbows and yellowfin shiners are rather beautiful. Fancy guppy’s would also look really pretty viewed from the top.

I suggest a smaller specie of fish that thrive in warm water. Swordtail or Platy.
