100 Gallon, noobie tank/stock

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I know the stock is nothing to look at. But I did not want to drop any coin on fish until I get the hang of things, etc.

The decorations, I let my son pick out for his Bday (yes I know they are ghetto). I did not interfere with his selections though. That's what dads do.
:D

I am not sure what I should put in later on. Do you guys have any suggestions? I would definitely like to stay with freshwater on this tank.

I live 40 yards from Lake Wylie, my wife does not like the idea...but I would like to drop some bass in the tank someday, hehe. Since I have access to a bait store (1/2 mile from the house), live food - on the cheap side, would not be a problem. Can everyday lake fish survive in these tanks?

nice tank :D how does that magnum canister work out?

probably not depending on what type of lake fish you used. also fish from a lake would be cold water ;)

Man that Magnum 350 is a funny story. It came with the tank dad gave me, it's 17 years old as well....haha

I put new tubes/cut on/off values and a new cap o-ring and gaskets on it, purchase new media kit filters for it (both micron and container) and it fired right up. Now it takes a bit of love to get the air out of the intake value but once it's sealed it runs like a champ. I did however buy a small UPC battery backup simply because of the Magnum's age, I am not sure how much air/water pressure it could handle turned off....and I was paranoid about a few gallons of water dripping onto the kitchen floor...hehe

Far as what I am going to put it in, that is where you guys and this forum comes in. I want something decently sized but easy to maintain. Something the kids would enjoy, I have a 4 year old, a 6 year old and a 9 year old.
