Tried to do some digging on Rheoheros lentinginosus and discovered that they get 10inch/25cm. But apparently they have a close retaliative, Theraps/Rheoheros coeruleus which is closer to the Thorichthys bunch in size, so im keen on them.
Looks like im going for a medium central american cichlid set up doesnt it went round the store yesterday and the maculipinnis were still there, calling my name through the glass. So were the Redhead Geos though...
Any ideas on a top water fish for this tank? Ive had mixed experience with sailfin mollies, swordtials and platies as regard to favoured swimming areas, even in species tanks
In other news, my danio erythromicron started spawning for the first time in my office tank while i was typing this post. The joys of fish keeping ay? now to watch them slaughter the eggs
Got any info on Rheoheros species Stanzzzz? General behaviour, diet, aggression? id never heard of them before now and cant seem to find much on the internet about them

I've only ever kept lentiginosus, which I currently keep. I have 1 male and 4 females and literally zero aggression.
They are predominantly a riverine species although recently they have been discovered in Lake miramar.
They like to be kept around 74 in well oxygenated water.
Males will reach around 7 to 10 inches,10 inches being exceptional for this species. Females will remain a lot smaller.
They are not that impressive as juveniles but slowly grow more beautiful as they mature.
I have never kept coeruleus but people I know that have have said they are very aggressive. Lack of flow in the tank and keeping them to warm may be a contributing factor, but I am not sure.
They are a very interesting fish to keep and well worth a shot.
