This is the tank itself (pic's don't do it any justice its bigger in person) the tank measures at 5ft by 18 inches by 2ft with my 8 inch oscar, 5 inch blue acara, 2 7 inch common plecos and a cichlid that is 5 inches. I bought this tank from a guy who had a fish house down the end of his garden, he was slowly getting rid of his tanks as they were his sons who had moved out.

This is the only lighting that i am using, as the tank did not come with lights only glass sliders. i already had a 30 watt t8 bulb so i asked my grandad (who luckily owns an online pet store) if he could get me this light controller, as he is owner he can order them in for me at discount price :)

Here it is... it would usually be around £30 but i got it for about £15

He also gave me this Ehiem 2013 canister filter for free! it was his he used to use on his tank until he got rid of it a few years ago, he had no use of it any more so he gave it to me.

He gave me the old suction cups but because they were quite old they went frail and hard and were no use to me, so the other night i made this tape support which does the job!

And here is my pride and joy! my 8 inch albino oscar, i was also wondering, do you think i may be able to get a second oscar in that tank or not? i thought i would ask for your opinion first just in case...

Here is the inflow pipe for the Ehiem

I took this part off because it was stopping the waste go up the pipe, but do i need it on or not?

and here is the empty tank being filled up, the water stains i cant get off for some reason i have tried everything! but there not too noticeable which is ok, the other filter i have in the tank is a fluval 4plus which is a beast! its an internal filter and both that and the ehiem keep the tank crystal clear (as well as the water changes)

Thanks for looking at my post, i am new here so i hope it turned out ok.:headbang2

i'd keep the strainer on. It keeps fish from getting stuck on the intake, which can damage scales or fins or eyes, or whatever.

You can get another Oscar, sure. But my experience has an already established Oscar resident fighting with any new fish. Then they tear up each others sides and such. But you do have the room.

Nice tank!

The reason that its dirty is that i had a heater explode in it the other day and im still trying to clear it up, also how is it underlit?

Thanks! :D It was quite cheap only 50 for the tank and 25 for the stand.

dunno, it doesn't look dirty to me.

Me personally, i'd run at least another large capacity canister on it.

Would a 1000l/ph one do the job?
