I got my box of ghost shrimp in this evening, and i put a nice net full in the tank, at least 100, they were everywhere! watched for a few min, and he was like a kid in a candy store! all over the tank bounceing everywhere! or pouncing I'm not sure

left to go out to eat come home and there ALL gone!!! :WHOA: umm i didn't think he would eat them all! i suppose they are small, probably like eating popcorn. most were about 1/2" some around 1"

LOL....Yah...rays will eat until they look like they are going to burst. Looks happy though!

lol

you can see in the pics a few stragglers swimming about, but I'm sure they wont last much longer! we walked back in the door and my wife said hey didn't you put some shrimp in here? i said ya why, she said there isn't any. ummmm then i seen my ray still hunting them down one by one, or disk by disk, as many as he could round up in the corner of the tank and with one big scoop of his disk he was all over them.

but with watching my ray for the past few weeks, i gotta say, having them in a pond would be boring, not being able to see the things ya see in a tank

Yah...I prefer rays in a tank. This way you don't just see them from above.

Glad your enjoying you ray. Wait until the others come and they start interacting.

lol :WHOA:

yep ghost shrimp dont last very long in any tank , i find in my 125g i buy 200 at a time and maybe i will see the odd one that has hidden after the first week and everyone else is eaten . the ray looks happy about his nice dinner .

Ya that i cannot wait for them! the guy I'm getting them from was over tonight (brought me the g-shrimp and a pound of black worms) have not tried feeding the black worms yet, but we were talking and they should be here early next week or middle of the week! SAWEEEET

i was thinking of there interaction and cant wait to view it

out of all the fish i have kept over the year's this is the first species that my son was interested in, he is always watching the ray:D

do you rinse your black worms every other day and change there water?

When the new rays arrive i will take LOTSO pic's! :headbang2 :D

LOL he better like that dinner, cost just as much as mine! :D

but i still have another 300 + shrimps in a 55 :headbang2

Nice man, I love watching rays eat ghost shrimp, but in the end it really costs a lot to feed them all the time.

When I have black worms, I put them in those special black worm keeprs. I rinse them everyday, and change the water about every 4 or 5 days.

Black worm keeper? please fill me in here! i have a lot of black worms i need to store i have them in the fridge in a bag with water now.

also the other 300 i have i am going to try and breed, just for that reason.. i can think of other things to feed that are cheaper and more filling.

Your LFS should sell the blackworm keepers, or at least mine does. It is two pieces and the first piece is a screen that the worms sit on and then you put that part in the second half that holds the water. So it if very easy to do maitnece.

I find the black worms keepers the best for keeping the worms, they last a very long time in there and they don't die very fast. You can also keep them in a very shallow continer, with just enough water where the worms are submerged but can still breath at the surface.

Also, I find smelt a lot cheaper than ghost shrimp.
