I have a slightly different idea for you to consider.
Instead of using filter mat, why don't use use a static media bed such as K1 micro ? This will filter quite fine depending on how thick the static bed is. So add a half barrel with a bottom drain on valve (kept open) above the moving bed and fill this with static K1 micro. When you need to clean this, close the bottom valve, let it fill and stir the media to float and clean. Then drain out the filthy water by siphon or another dedicated drain line to waste.
Or use a large weave net container (like an onion bag) keep the K1 micro. Then lift the whole bag or net out to dunk in a cleaning container.
