Advice given needs to be to the level of understanding and capability of the OP. Judging by the content of his posts I would say a 100% water change is a bad idea.

Yes, most all capable, experienced fish keepers know that 100% WCs can be done safely with little risk.

Bic lighters are safe, but I wouldn't allow a 4 year old to use one.:duh:

I agree that we need to thoroughly explain things so that the OP (of any thread) can learn from our suggestions and follow our advice…

Assuming that the OP cannot understand simple instructions is pretty darn insulting to the OP… or is a sign that the poster lacks what it takes to offer clear and simple instructions…

Making false statements and then stating ‘the OP wasn’t intelligent enough to understand the truth’ is still lying… This type of manipulation has been used as a form of suppression in many cultures and I definitely do not support it becoming a part of our hobby.

Explaining the simple truth in simple terms benefits everyone… Spreading misinformation only prevents people from actually learning… .

By reading many of the posts in this thread, obviously many members here do not understand this, yet are eager to share their thoughts based on their misunderstandings…

the only way you people will solve this argument is to do a 100% waterchange every day for 2 weeks. then type the results on fish health and parameters.

ok and..... GO!

Don't be stupid, the OP didn't even know what a gravel vac was let alone own one. This is BASIC FISHKEEPING 101. You expect me to believe he is capable of properly doing a 100 water change when he don't even have the tools to do it.

In this given situation, with the limited amount of info the OP is able to produce and his obvious inexperience. The right answer to his question is;

Doing a 100% water change is a bad idea.

First your assuming the OP is severely lacking intelligence and now your calling me stupid...

The level of offensiveness that is commonplace on this forum is pathetic... Mods should really step up...

And members should take the time to educate others and if they cannot do so they should keep their thoughts to themselves...

I did a 150% yesterday...Water looks great, fish look normal. Dechlor, and a mature tank. THE END.

I did a 90% in light of this thread. It was a good idea water looks tip top! :headbang2

Hoo boy! Here we go again. Several answers have been given. The argument is turning into circles. I am closing this since this thread is already done before countless arguments break out again.

zennzzo got the right phrase by the way.;)
