1000 gal tank project

i will turn my old filter off then more all the media to the new sump

but i wont feed the fish for 2 days before the move then leave the 2 x eheim internals running on the old tank for about 4 hours when i mess around with the new tank

then dump the fish in

started filling at 1pm its now 10pm and just over half full

its the HMA filter thats slowing it down a bit but best to use that than £100 on tap water conditioner

and by filling with the HMA filter i can get a good idea on how much to set the flow on the HMA to change 10% of the tank per day

my foot is real bad so I'm not allowed to go out their today

tomorrow i will go down and the water should be going down the drain if all the pipe work is good the turn down the flow on the HMA and turn the pumps on

i need to buy a strong air pump as i have been told it will be best to put a bubble wall in the centre section of the sump to give the media some more air
 
wow is it filling already? that went quicker than i expected! It's either that or i've just not been on mfk a lot recently.............anywho, how's looking with water in and how's your foot?

HMA will change 200g per day

and i have been told before you need to change the cartrages it should be 6 months or 100,000g which ever comes 1st

foots bad im back at the hospital tomorow

the funny thing is the tank looks smaller with water in

i will take some pics of the fish in the old tank before i move them

im having to change all the flex pipe crap for eheim pipe tomorow as no matter how much i have tryed i just cant stop the drips from all flex pipe to solid PVC pipe even with 2 clips on each joint

that flex pipe is rubbish i dont know how the FX5 fan boys put up with it if they need to connect a UV

4 x UVs thats 8 flex pipe joins ALL of them were leaking
 
I use barbed adapters from the flex to PVC, with hose clamps. Now and then I have to tighten them a bit but otherwise seam to work good. I also use Teflon tape on the threads when installing the barbed fitting to the PVC. I think if you tweak it a bit it will work.
