1000-Gallon Saltwater System - Complete

According to Google Maps, I'm 691 miles from Chicago. 11-hour drive (assuming you can drive at highway speeds pulling a trailer with this monster on it!)

The tank is 34" tall - it's a smidge too wide for the doorway here so we removed the windows to put it in (and will have to to move it out again). Double doors or a wider doorway won't be a problem. Our friends bought the sister tank to this one and brought it into their basement through a garage door - the other tank was 48" tall...12' long and 4' wide...

The stand is tall too - but in a pinch it could be disassembled and reassembled - it's put together with screws so it would be a bit of work but not a huge deal.

The "almost" buyer I had was going to use an F450 and 22' trailer to tote it from here to NH but as I mentioned, the deal fell through.

It was brought here originally on a 5-ton moving truck, just a short distance but we hired professional movers to move it and the sister tank to their respective new homes, and it wasn't an issue.

IVE HEARD OF PEOPLE CUTTING THE TOP OFF A ACYLIC TANK, CUTTING IT DOWN TO SIZE WANTED, AND THEN PUTTING THE TOP BACK ON. IVE TALKED TO PROFFESIONALS, THEY SAID IT IS POSSIBLE. CUT THAT BABY DOWN TO 24 INCHES AND U HAVE ONE CRAZY RAY TANK THAT WOULD BE ALOT EASIER TO MOVE. U REALLY GOT ME THINKING. ROAD TRIP?
 
I never thought of that but it sounds feasible. Hey once somebody buys it they can do with it as they see fit. I'd suggest having a professional do that though.

Its previous owner kept a nurse shark in it for several years. I think he had some barracuda too. The "other" tank was a reef tank - it was unbelievable. I don't think the folks who bought it have done much with it :(

Better to do it before the weather up there gets ugly ;)

Here's the classic " I wish" response.

Man I wish I had the cash . I got a truck and can get a trailer to haul but not 5K that you are asking withour the fish. To Bad. I could always use a new tank. Whats going to happen if it doesn't sell?
 
Well my "dead" deal on the fish may have been resurrected today (fingers crossed). The interested party contacted me today. He maintains a 4500 gallon system (!!!) and the fish would go into that.

If it doesn't sell fairly soon, my landlord will let me store it dry for a little while, but if he rents out the space before it sells (unlikely at this point - knock on wood - there are 3 other empty units in this mall)... I'd have to put it in storage until I can sell it.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the fish *might* be on their way to a bigger home this weekend (hope I didn't just jinx that!)... then I'll be looking to sell just the tank, stand and peripherals.

Ain't that the truth? I lucked into it when I got it... hopefully the good mojo will follow and the right person will "luck" into it also.
