Not just slow business bro its also been the way the hobby has changed. He buys a fish for 5 bux then trys to sell for ten bux. Then everyone wants it for 6 bux because that is wat they "can get it for online." A store cant operate that way. It also takes a lot of time and effort that wears out a person. Hes been in the business for years and its just time for him to cAll it quits for now
it's too bad. people don't count shipping when they try to talk prices down. I figure if the fish are being kept healthy and I can walk in and pick them up, it's worth paying the business. Unfortunately I can't get that locally. my brother frequents this store :-(
Are you affiliated with Ocean Blue at all? I used to go here to buy African cichlids when I had my tank setup. Great selection with lots of uncommon cichlids but the service was meh at best. He talks like he's yelling at you. He seems to be friendly to older white folks though.
I'm really bummed to hear they are going out of business. When we went to SoCal last summer it was the only store I stopped by. They didn't have a ton of livestock, but what they did have was awesome, several oddballs I had never seen in person before. They also had that tank (pretty much my dream tank) and a lot of other large, interesting tanks. Sad that they're closing, but you've got to do what you've got to do.
What a bummer! I used to buy many of my exotic fish from him when I lived in SoCal. I even brought my FRT from there many years ago when they were still legal to buy in the states.
