1000 Gallon tank engineering considerations

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
4 tonne on a concrete slab is not considered exessive at all but it does depend on the surface area and whether the slab was made to building code.

You mention there has been slab movement where the tank will go? A structural inspection would involve soil tests/drilling as well as the thickness of concrete. And if deemed insufficient you would then have to reinforce the slab.

I would reinforce the slab instead. Might as well save the inspection fee and get more peace of mind.
Thanks very much for the input, actually there has been no movement where the tank would go as far as I can tell, it is the high spot while the other corner is the part that has settled, with a crack running down the middle but not under the tank spot. I'll try to find the slab thickness and update you guys! Thanks!

So many things to consider..like F fishdance said... the weight on say a 4 inch slab is not really excessive but what is area of tank? What is slab on? (Compact earth? Sand? An older home had different standards than homes now. Being a cribber I know thickness of slab and foundation here in alberta but not where u live... get it looked at if the slab is showing signs of settling in random spots

Thanks I really appreciate the input. Unfortunately I live in California so everything is ridiculous here haha. I'm trying to see if any of my friends have a hookup or maybe a local fish friend
Damn bud. I am in the western end of ny. If u were within an hour or 2 I would give u an estimate for 50-100. Lol

It's a matter of going from 1 surface to a 2nd and a 3rd. Other than that just level the slab if it's 6" +, and don't go over the foundation.
