1000 gallon tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm sure with large enough fish and a well planned tank you should at least always be able to see something?

All i can say is when you get the tank, we want pics!!!

From a 75 to 1000 alot, but from 300 to 1000 not so much. I'm sure the electric cost would be at least double from the 300, lights and filter'pumps etc.

Do you have a sump now? If not I'd plan on one.

What a lucky dog!!!!!

You might want to go into live plants is such a large tank. Would save $ on water change in the long run

I had a 180gal, then added a 150gal and noticed the increase with the electric bill. Then I added a 200gal and noticed even more of an increase. On top of that the electric then raised the rate per kilowatt. 1000gal is definitely something about in terms of running it per month= per year.

photos are a must!

This could be about fish tank relivity in that there was a three foot long Paco in a 220 gallon tank and he made the 220 look like a 20 gallon. While a ten gallon tank would seem like a 500 gallon to a baby 0.12 cent comet Goldfish. It really depends on the size of the fish you are going to take out of the 300 and add to the 100 gallon.

A Goldfish could make a 300 gallon tank look tiny if it is big enough.

Not necessarily. In order to have live plants he would have to upgrade the lights to high wattage which would be just as if not more expensive. Then he would have to change out the bulbs at least every months in order to keep the high wattage and the light at its brightest. I think just a large sump will be sufficient. I want to see pics though. Look up T1KARMANN, He has a 1000 gallon and Im sure he would help you out with how to filter it.

for me, it tends to be 1000 gallon tanks are less fun. going over 500 really makes it kind of boring if your tank is so wide you can't see the fish if they are on the far side of the tank as well.

i had a 1000 gal at the shop i set up but it backfired when all the fish would hang out in the far end of the tank and it was a good 5 feet to the wall. you'd have to make it long and high to be worth the size as i find it hard to enjoy fish in a 1000 gal any more than in a reef. the point of a tank is to force the fish to be seen any time you want to see it. otherwise, build a pond and imagine how happy your fish are rather than watching them.

can't you just snorkel in your tank?
