What do you guys think?
Is 1000 superworms too much?

My jardini loves eating superworms and can eat more than 100++ in one sitting. It hits them so hard and fast and always wants more. After eating superworms it doesn't even bother to eat anything else. When I drop a piece of shrimp in, it completely ignores it. Then the moment I drop a superworm in, it goes into hyper mode again. I always have to starve it for a couple of days to get it back to eating shrimp and pellets again. I've heard that some peoples' arowanas have died from eating superworms. Has anyone else heard of this too?

I know some fish could get spoiled and like a certain food only. I had a puffer like this once. I made the mistake of feeding live blackworms too much and then the puffer only want that food and ignored all the other foods it once ate.

Superworms is like crack to arowana's. Try starving for a couple or few weeks even then try shrimp and pellets again. Adult Arowana can go without food for months. I've heard ppl starved large Aros for 6 months even. I use to feed my Aro 1-2 times a month feeder goldfish as a treat but it screwed up his diet as he won't touch shrimp anymore. He use to eat shrimp like crazy too. But I'm lucky he still eats pellets and he jacks my stingray's nightcrawlers from time to time. I don't know about superworms killing your fish if it's the only diet but it might happen maybe due to lack of certain nutrients it's getting?

Your superworms you are referring to the biggest superworms aka morio worms? i ask becasue 100++ in one sitting is a massively crazy appetite!!

Yes, they are large morio worms, the biggest I can find. I don't know why my Jardini likes them so much, maybe it's the way they taste. Fish actually have taste buds too.

Wow, that kinda appetite is insane.. How big is your jardini?
On a side note, regardless of how much your jardini can eat, you might wanna consider not to overfeed..

Super worms are the best for for Arowana as they probably wouldn't eat shrimp shrimp is for bottom feeders aros eat from the top

It all depends on the size of the super worm what some people class as a super worm is nothing more than a small meal worm

Show a pic of one of the worms

I don't think it's possible for even a 4ft silver to eat 1000 real Marion's they are called not super worms as 1000 is 1.2 lb

I buy 1.2lb and that lasts 3-4 weeks and I feed 30-40 daily but they are the real giant super worms that's real name is Marion's

Different part of the world different names for worms

UK = earth worms
US = night crawlers

UK = river shrimp
US = ghost shrimp

UK = prawn
US = shrimp

The uk prawns are small and you call ours shrimp we call what you guys in the US prawns tiger prawns

Everything is normally bigger in the US but im not sure about this super worm thing I would need to see one but 1000 seams way to many

Sorry, I meant that it could eat at least 100 superworms and not 1,000.
I bought 1,000 superworms online since my local pet's mart and petco sells them for too much. About $0.10 per worm.
So 1,000 worms would cost $100.00. But buying online saved me $75.00.
First few days I fed my jardini a lot because I needed to create some space for the worms. If you don't feed them soon, a lot may just die off.
