100Gal Plywood Tank Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just one question. Your side and back panels are screwed to the side of the bottom panel. Aren't they supposed to go on top of them? That's what I have seen on the other plywood builds on the forum? Or does it really matter if you stick them on the side or top of the bottom plate? Screwing them in to the side just seems easier to do? The reason I am asking is that I am planning on starting my 7 footer this weekend and want to get it right the first time round

Im not so sure about that, kind of just started without any knowledge of plywood tanks. The only reason i did it that way is because i wanted the inside space so i just but the panels on the side instead of on top.
I would look into it if your going to build a 7 footer.

Wouldn't that soften the wood in a long run?
It would if you dont seal it correctly.

Has anyone applied epoxy paint to regular paint?

I would say no. As soon as you apply the epoxy paint it will soften the regular paint below and cause it to peel off. Of course, this depends on what the regular paint is, but I would not recommend it.

you can apply it to acrylic paint, however, I would first seal of the tank with a 3-4 layers of epoxy and let it dry. Give it a quick rub with fine sanding paper, apply the acrylic. Let this completely dry and then give it another 2 layers of epoxy
