With the way gas is going, I see our future as in London. Before too long, you might be working out of a Mini Cooper :nilly:

that's a cool looking stand. what kind of wood are you gunna use?

Survey says ......

Pine (I know boring) Working on a budget this week.. My daughter wants me to make her one the same.. hers may be poplar, maple, or oak; depends on her budget..

Here is todays progress..

Purchased lumber for all but the doors.. all 1x3 except the trim, using 3 1/2 inch molding for top & bottom. boards for sides & shelves are edge glued. front & back pieces for between sections & under tank edge cut to length (18 3/4 each)

Molding will not be cut till assembly time..

For those interested in the original drawing; here it is ..

OK, I took this pile of wood, waved a magic wand & it looked real good so far.. So then what went wrong? .....

The stand needed to be 11 1/2 inches deep for the binders & it is, but the tank is only 10 1/2 inches.. I should have put the back rail in to make the top frame only 10 1/2 but I didn't so now the back edge of the tank is not going to be resting on anything.. not a huge issue, I will add another rail, or perhaps a shelf. (more likely a rail)

That splotch on the bottom shelf is a knot..

Worked 2 doubles, Monday & Tuesday. Only progress is triangle braces in every corner, braces for the shelves & the trim around the bottom.
